Our client is a $1.2 Billion services company that supports a diverse portfolio of Federal and Commercial subsidiary service providers. These operating companies represent a broad array of specialized talents, technologies, domain expertise and proven program success across the most visible and demanding environments of government and industry. These companies play leadership roles in information technology, facility management, data communications, systems engineering, software development, cyber security, aviation, construction, fabrication and logistics.

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Group President who will be responsible for strategic leadership, fiscal management and the development of business opportunities and growth for the five operating companies within the Group. With annual revenues of over $300M, the Group primarily delivers facilities operations and maintenance, base level logistics, vehicle and equipment operations and maintenance, warehouse operations and quality of life and administrative support to federal government and military customers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position will include, but not be limited to

  • Achieving all annual Revenue, Operating Income and DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) targets
  • Delivering indirect costs and labor utilization rates at or below approved operating plan levels for each of the operating companies within the Group
  • Allocating resources, adopting processes, and applying leadership focus to aggressively drive and successfully deliver improved new business growth
  • Working with each of the operating companies’ leadership teams to develop and implement business growth strategies that will achieve or exceed the Group’s operating plan performance objectives
  • Ensuring the operating companies capture new business and exploiting existing multiple-award schedule ID/IQ contracts needed to access target markets and achieve organic growth objectives
  • Maintaining or enhancing customer satisfaction levels (as measured by CPARs and other quality assurance surveys, including use of company initiated customer satisfaction inquiries)
  • Ensuring each of the operating companies within the Group builds a presence in target markets and regions that leverages the strengths of the Group and adds opportunities to the companies’ portfolios, nurtures growth of the Group and enhances the strengths of the entire organization
  • Managing the implementation of customer contact plans and monitoring their achievement
  • Demonstrating ability to perform capture functions for large opportunities and promoting a culture that understands the importance of effective new business development across all operating companies
  • Maintaining awareness of the federal market (e.g., agency buying practices, GWAC/other vehicles and emerging trends/skillsets)
  • Preserving strong beneficial relationships and meeting commitments in all dealings with primes, subcontractors, and teaming partners
  • Establishing and/or maintaining industry alliances and participating in key events, to position operating companies within the Group as emerging leaders in the federal market
  • Responsible for resource allocation, technical and management oversight, monthly and quarterly project reviews, and resolution of issues at the project, program, operating company and group level
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures including safety, quality control, human resources, labor relations, ethics, finance and purchasing, business development, and legal
  • Acting as a role model within the Group and creating a positive work environment that fosters ethical behavior, outstanding performance, and commitment to the Group and the Company
  • Allocating time and resources to initiatives focused on improving employee morale and job satisfaction with the objective of improving retention of employees
  • Providing leadership, ownership of, and support for the implementation of cost saving and growth initiatives
  • Effectively leveraging the Company’s shared services departments and business systems to support operational effectiveness across all operating companies.  Implementing enhancements for management reporting and forecasting functionality as required

Position Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following expertise and attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree. An MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience of government agency contracting experience at the project or program management level, and at least five years Operations/P&L experience
  • Must possess and demonstrate leadership experience in full and open/competitive Federal Government Contracting
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization with multiple operating companies
  • A broad based understanding and knowledge of base operations support and facility maintenance
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask and effectively interface with the senior executive team and their staff
  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills
